i recently got an update for my itunes player and i think this version of itunes takes up more memory and makes the songs sound choppy. is there anyway i could fix this?

sounds like you need more RAM.
any computer today should have a minimum of 512k ram, anything less and most software items will have issues.

Upgrading your ram might help, considering it seems you're out of memory.
Otherwise use a different application to play music (such as winamp) or increase your paging file to 4000 max (set it in Control Panel > System > Advanded >Performance>Settings)

Sounds like a hardware problem.. or lack of it. I think your ram is insuficient and maybe even your CPU might be too slow to process all that you are asking it to.
