anybody been to both places and can make a good comparison?
i've asked this question a coupe of times, and in the end, the answers kind of balance out. i need a more decisive answer.
is new yorkers or LA people nicer? who is meaner?

I don't think either is meaner, per se...But, I think that after 9/11, many New Yorkers have a very different attitude and they are a
little more approachable. I love LA but the hustle and bustle keeps
people rushing! So, in short, I think that both cultures in both cities are great and there is no meaner group. But, after the devastation NYC felt, some people are a little more willing to chat than before.

Angelenos are nicer by and large. In Hollywood, there's this arrogant, insecurity thing going on with people who want to be "stylish" and "exclusive," but most people outside of that are rather nice.
New Yorkers are just harsh and very disconnected from humanity. I've found this bad reputation to be grounded in truth at almost every turn.

LA people are nicer, some new yorkers are meaner but some LA are mean too

i was born and raised in los angeles but have lived my entire adult life in new york city
i would say that new yorkers are nicer. we are forced to face each other daily do to the small size of the island versus amount of people. i think LA people are more isolated therefore less social. new yorkers have a lot of pride in their city, it is easy to strike up a conversation with a stranger. on LA i notice that people are very status conscience right clothes right car right neighborhood but in new york the richest man in the world can walk down the street in ripped up jeans and a dirty tee.

Hmmm... LA people will shoot you for cutting in front of them on the highway...
but.. NY people will shoot you for just being there in a car!!! LOL!
Actually, I have been to both places and had a GREAT time in them both with no problems!!!...
OH! and while I was in NY there was some guy handing out checks to people for any reasonable amount that they needed (and had a good use for it).. He went inside before I got to him.. people were tearing them up and throwing them in the trash.. turns out he was some Billionaire giving away REAL checks for anywhere between $10 and $50,000!!! Never had that happen in LA I don't think!!..
NY is easier to get around without a car (harder with a car).. while LA you need a car to see very much.

I spent 3 days in San Francisco and sometime in new york city. That replaced into long sufficient for me to settle on that west replaced into superb and east replaced into least. Judging from the human beings we encountered, it replaced into all smiles in the west; misery, worry and anger in new york. And that replaced into in 1985.
