There's a small chance of it. My friend was/is on it and actually lost weight though! It varies from person to person. It's worth it though.. your mental health is more important than gaining or losing a couple of pounds.

I'm sure that there are exceptions, but I began taking it when I was at a very healthy weight and had healthy eating habits.
I found that the medication made me insatiably hungry. A serious kind of hunger that I had never before experienced. When I wasn't sleeping, I was ravenous. Even having my dosage adjusted didn't help.
While I was on Lexapro, I gained approximately 90 lbs over the course of six months. When I ceased the medication, the weight gain stopped, and I was able to lose the weight over the following two and a half years.
My doctor warned me about "slight weight gain", but I apparently had an extreme reaction.
If I had it to do again, there is no way I would have started Lexapro. It damaged my body, my self esteem, and it took me years to repair both.
I went on to have tremendous success with Abilify for the same issues, with no side effects at all. I resent my psychiatrist even prescribing Lexapro in the first place, when Abilify was well known, safe and on the market, without reports of weight gain.

I was on it a year and i am not sure if it was related or not but in that time span i gained 45 pounds... :( it worked well though

No, it's one of the few that doesn't otherwise I would be left untreated...weight gain while fighting depression or bipolar is the worst.

ive been on it for about a year and ive not gained any wt.
the med really helps

yes ! i gained 20 pounds...unfortunately when i started the medication i had no idea that it could make me fat :(
