All people are responsible for Christ's Crucifixion. Here is a verse that shows the gentiles responsibility:
"...the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death and will turn him over to the GENTILES to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!" Mt 20:19

If you do not believe in God, why are you interested to know why the Jews killed Jesus?
The truth was the Jews wanted Jesus killed because they thought he transgressed theirJewish Laws, two of them are breaking the Sabbath Law and Claiming he is the son of God which according to their law, those are punishable by death. The Romans, on the other hand saw the opportunity to remove the threat of unrest in their territory. Jesus was becoming a popular figure among the poor sector of the Jewish community. They were afraid that the same thing that happened to Egypt might happen to the place or worst a takeover in the province. You are right about the Romans crucified him because the type of punishment that the Jews know at that time was only stoning to death. Roman crucifixion is done against criminals and rebels to humiliate them in public aside from causing effective way to freigthen the public and be submissive to the government of Rome. The Jews wanted Jesus dead, The Romans killed him.

Power.
The leaders of the Jewish religion didn't like this young upstart that came along preaching a different message than theirs. Preaching a message that took away their power over the minds of the people. Fortunately in a way for them, Paul came along and made of the Christian Church what the pharisees did to the Jewish Church...institutionalized it, seperated people, organized it, and put a power heirarchy into it, giving the leaders an incredible amount of power over the people. Why do you think that the Disciples were always fighting with Paul, and most of the original disciple's books were left out of the Bible?
When this guy came along threatening their power, they wanted him gone, especially since he was getting really popular and was making them look like idiots!
That's why they crucified Him. The Romans were incredible record-keepers. The story of the Crucifixion is verified in several places withing the Roman accounting records. It is clear that the Romans just really didn't care and the local official didn't think that killing this guy was a good idea.
Keep in mind...it was the politico/religious leaders of the Jews that did these things. Not the people. For some reason, people blame groups of people for the actions of a few. Just because the leaders were bad at the time, doesn't mean that the people agree. Kind of like in our country we have a leader that was not elected either time he ran, yet is still the leader and conducting a war that the vast majority of the people, upon learning that all the reasons were made up, are not agreeing with the war. You can't hold the American People responsible for the actions of this leadership, neither should you hold it against the Jewish people that their leadership was corrupt at the time.
tman...get a clue! Stop taking verses out of context and drawing such absurd conclusions about the meaning! That verse is talking about how the clergy handed him over to the Romans since they didn't have authority to execute...only the Romans did. That verse is just a history...he was handed over to a couple of Gentiles. Gentile just means non-jewish. It doesn't say "all gentiles". It says the gentiles. The particular ones. It's really annoying when amateur bible readers take verses so radically out of context to twist it to say what they want it to say. Try reading more than one verse at a time. Then you might get it. The whole concept of arranging the Bible by chapter and verse is absurd. It was designed so that those in leadership could make the people do whatever they wanted them to do by taking one verse and twisting it's meaning. You can make the Bible (when divided up like that) say anything you want it to. But that is a lie. Only when you read the entire chapter all together without disecting it, will you be able to understand it.
LadyLgl...Yeshua was not a direct male-line descendant of King David. If he were, he would not be the Son of God. His mother had a direct lineage, but many other people in that time and place were direct male line descendants of King David. The prophecies fortold of a man of the line of David, and that wasn't the real issue anyway. The issue was power. They may have used various things to rationalize their actions, but the true motivator was power. Jesus took their power over the people away, and they didn't like it.

You're exactly right. The jews didn't kill Jesus. The Romans did by crucifixion which was the favorite mode of death at that time for heretics. However, the Jews had a hand in Jesus' death. They were the ones who chose Jesus over Barrabas to be crucified when Pontius Pilate asked the crowd. They condemned an innocent Man to death. God has the capacity and even Jesus, Our Lord to free Himself . But it was in God's design that He should die for our sins.

It's hard to verify all the facts but supposedly the Jews were mad that Jesus was claiming to be God, which was the blasphemy of blasphemies. Also he exposed many of the most powerful Jewish leaders on their spiritually dirty lives by calling them white washed tombs, etc. These were the people who conspired to have Jesus killed and when the moment of truth came in which the Jews were given a choice as to whom they could free they chose a convicted murderer over Jesus.
This should all be noted that it was only some of the Jewish people who called for Jesus' death as the disciples as well as most of the other followers of Jesus were Jews themselves. It is a hasty generalization to say the Jews killed Jesus. Also none of us were there to witness it ourselves so it is hard to say without a doubt would is exactly the guilty party.
Whatever the case something that happened over two thousand years ago is not worth any anger or hate. Let it go and love one another. I'm sure if Jesus of the bible existed this is what he would be preaching.

The bible tells us that the Jewish leaders of the day were very threatened by Jesus. The people followed Jesus and the Pharisees were envious of Him. They were afraid that the people would turn away from the Jewish leaders and follow Jesus (which indeed, they were doing)....Jesus also was constantly showing up the Pharisees for what they were; hypocrites who liked their position more than loving God. When Pilate (who, the bible says, intrestingly enough, knew the Jews had turned Jesus over to him "out of envy"), gave the crowd a choice between Barabbas and Jesus, the Jewish leaders incited the crowd to have Jesus crucified. And they did.

If you want an accurate, you must examine the historical time period. What was going on during this time? What was the significance of the places. I doubt anyone here can give you that! You will need something more reliable than yahoo answers!
But from my biased knowledge, some Jews diagreed with Jesus's teachings. Many of the things Jesus preached contradicted their religion.

in accordance to Luke 23, the Jews needed Jesus ineffective for deceptive people. Pilate found him harmless, however the Jews have been insistent. i've got seen a superb form of Christians attempt to argue against it, yet that's what their e book of mythology says.

The Romans carried out the act because the Jews insisted on it. They had strayed away from what the scriptures actually said and replaced God's word with their own words. (sound familiar)They Jewish leaders did not want to give up their authority. Of course, God knew all this in advance and planned on using it to cleanse the rest of us. It was our sins that made the whole act necessary. So the guilt lies with all of us.

Jesus was a Jew and His own people did not recognize Him as the Messiah. they were living under the Law Moses gave and Jesus was in their opinion not like them. It was our sins that Jesus died for not just the false charges against Jesus. He had to die as that is the only way we would have eternal life in heaven. look at the historical facts about the prophecy of Jesus that was fulfilled in His life and death on a Cross. the very day was spoken of too!

It was the Romans that cruxified him. The Jews were angry at him, because they didn't accept him as the Messiah. Pontus Pilite and Herod wanted to release him, the Jews did not, they wanted him dead.
