Generic manufacturers are allowed up to a 10% difference in the strength of the active ingredient between the generic and brand name drugs. A generic drug manufacturer MUST prove that the generic is the same drug and works in the exact same way as the brand name drug. For the majority of drugs, the 10% difference will not effect the results from the drug. However, if you take drugs that have to be monitored closely (such as Coumadin or Dilantin), it is recommended to stay on the same brand (whether brand or generic) all the time.

I think it depends on which type of generic brand you buy. Like at the grocery store. I can buy generic canned pears and they taste the same as Delmonte. But on the other hand, I can't find one generic ketchup as good as Heinz. If I were you, I would search the internet on the exact name of the generic brand you are thinking of using and see if anyone has commented on the difference between that and the real deal:--)

yes, they work the same (assuming your dosage is the same). in fact, there are laws in some parts of the world which require doctors to write the generic names of any brand-name drugs that they prescribe, so that we can choose between the cheaper generic and the more expensive brand-name. but the department of health says that they are chemically identical.

that is very questionable. For example walmarts is now selling perscription for drugs which used to cost people 300 a month for 4 bucks a month supply. they are doing os in Tampa Florida now and intend ot go nation wide.
I personally think they are buying drugs from over seas which are not tested like they are here.
Most drugs like asprin which are generic do not hlep me at all I've found.(example is equate type drugs.)
Either they are not the same or our drug companies and doctors and hospitals have really screwed us over for years which is possible.
