They actually darken during pregnancy, not breastfeeding. This is due to hormonal changes in the body during pregnancy. Some women's areola may lighten back again after birth, or even months to 1 year after birth, some may only lighten a little bit..barely noticeable, and some may just stay in their darkened state from pregnancy. Its one of the many "side effects" of becoming pregnant. Every woman is different, so experience with this will obviously be different for every woman.
Also, just so you know..they say this happens strictly for breastfeeding. It is supposed to make the nipple, areola area appear like a "target" so the baby knows where their mouth is supposed to go. Interesting!

I breastfed my daughter for a year and my nipples turned pink again about 6 months after stopping. Just give it some time and they should turn back, but there is always the possibility that they won't turn back.

Sorry you either have brown nipples or pink ones. If they get brown during breastfeeding then they have the tendency to be brown anyway. It really has to do with your skin color and pigmentation.

My wife is going through this right now. The doctor said all of the discoloration on the stomach, breasts, and vaginal area will go away around six months after the birth. Relax, you will be yourself again very soon!

THEY GET BACK TO NORMAL WITH TIME. MINE WERE REALLY DARK WHEN PREGNANT AND SEVERAL MONTHS AFTER BIRTH, AND ORIGINALLY I HAVE VERY LIGHT PINK NIPPLES. AS FAR AS I REMEMBER, THEY GOT BACK TO NORMAL WITHIN 9 MONTHS.
