They are certainly better Christians than most of us...they truly believe in turning the other cheek, and they stick by it no matter what.

I know a number of Amish folks. They are people, just like us. Part of their belief is that technology opens up a door for sin and for putting value onto things that hold no value. This is in some ways forward-thinking, in that they're right. However, it doesn't exempt them from sin and temptation. Their temptations are just different.
But, you know, the Amish folks that I know, I know because I have met them out and about. The ones I know get rides to go places, shop in the grocery store, and all that. They aren't freakish or outrageously different. They simply choose not to have gas-burning engines or anything that requires a spark; don't connect to the power grid; and other stuff. They use propane refrigeration, metal wheels on farm equipment (no rubber tires), and diesel-powered engines. That is, they use technology, but some sorts of it, they reject.
I don't know what I'm trying to say here, really. I guess to sum up: the answer to your question is maybe, maybe not, it depends.

We have electonics and cars etc, but with all respect, the Amish know its not good to put artificial chemicals into foods, and pollute the air with gasoline engines, They knew that before the rest of us did. Meanwhile the rest of us are:
- getting cancers from sodium nitrite in packaged meats
- getting gradual nerve cell / brain cell damage and gradual separation of the retina from the eye due to aspartame
- getting heart-burn from sodium phosphates, TSP (paint cleaner, driveway cleaner) in some cereals
- polluting the air and the world like there's no tomorrow.
The rest of us have to learn the hard way, some day, we'll get it.
Maybe we can learn some things from the Amish, especially how to do pure foods!

The Amish social skills far surpass us "english" as they call us. They're entwined deeply, knowing each other with friendships with different familys that go back for hundreds of years.
Our society treat humans as disposable- including relationships

Materialistically we are more advanced, spiritually they are.
In the Beginning God created heavens and earth.
God gives you air to breathe and sunshine to enjoy.
God gives you water to drink and food to eat.
God gives you a wonderful body and sound mind, to live.
God loves you, and you are precious to Him.
Son of God died on the Cross to save us from condemnation.
Jesus’ love is boundless and everlasting.
We have the hope of Heaven through Jesus.
Life therefore has fantastic and glorious future!

I think they are advanced emotionally, meaning they haven't been dumbed down by the media or hollywood. They hold values that are almost long gone in our "advanced" world.

They are kind, forgiving, and the way they are living in this crazy world, I see they are truly on to something with their life styles.

It seems that they know how to forgive and know that they must pray for those that do them harm.
The "modern" world could sure learn from their humility and spirituality.
They are miles ahead of us in those regards.

Technologically no. Spiritual maybe? Socially maybe? I think its not really something you can qualify as better, just different.
