He want's to name my puppy Duke (and I really don't like that name for MY dog OKAY!

You know, the puppy is usually the child's at the start of the game. Then after a month down the road......paths will change. Dad will be taking it out, feeding, vet trips, baths etc etc.....so why should he not pick the name? Think about it, tell me the truth, will you be 100% the caregiver of this dog? If so then tell your dad you would like to pick the name. If you will leave a lot of the
care to your dad after a month or so.....then he should choose....

There is nothing wrong with just asking him if you can name the puppy what you want. But if the dog/puppy is going to become a family pet then you need to discuss the name between the whole family.

it is ur dog right? tell him u want 2 name it the way u like it .tell him after all u would b the one who will spend time with it. Dont tell him u dont like the name given by him .Just tell him ever since u longed 4 a puppy u wanted to name it as whtever u had in mind. it is a little white lie but i think its ok

Tell him you'll call him Duke when he grows up.
After your Dad gets used to calling him the name you pick, he'll get used to that and forget all about 'Duke'.
Or tell him that you don't want to name your dog after a University.

tell him exactly that... "Dad, it's supposed to be my dog, and I don't like the name Duke, let's try to come up with something together" Try to compromise. Good Luck

Well u could tell him in a polite, calm voice and say that u dont like the name and say what u would rather name it.

just tell him and suggest some other names. Try to find one that you both like, even if it is your dog.
