.or was all of the killing of civilians and destruction of infrastructure for nothing. Or maybe it wasn't really for nothing after all...since Israel needed a 'testing' site for her American-made and supplied weapons.

Just curious.

Well Judith. asked a question and I received answers. So. What are you going to do next? Accuse me of being an anti-semite?
Silly woman. If the question is not to your liking, DON"T answer it. Okay?
Now, move along.

No,they haven't released them...It seems that there are going to be negotiations for the releas of the soldiers ,supervised by the UN...The soldiers are going to be exchanged with some Lebanese prisoners...
But ,yes,I think that the kidnapping of the soldiers was just an excuse for Israel to test some more weapons, other wise they would have negotiated from the start...

There's a great article in the Washington Post about Hezbollah's grave miscalculations. They, and I mean Hassan Nassrallah and his cronies, honestly thought the kidnapping of the Israeli soldiers would be over quickly and uneventfully with the expected prisoner exchange. Nassrallah even went on to reassure the Lebanese PM that it would be a quiet summer, and that the tourist season in Beirut would be great...how dead wrong he was. Many top Hezbollah leaders didn't even vacate their headquarters in Southern Beirut until Israel decimated the airport...they literally watched their headquarters crumble around them. Sorry, but I was laughing my a$$ off reading this. They were probably shitting their pants going, "great, there goes the summer tourist season...good goin' Hassan!" What a bunch of dumbasses.

Maybe Israel will release the thousands of Lebanese soldiers they have imprisoned once Hezbollah releases the hundreds of Israelis they have.

WHOA, i think someone just referred to hezbollah as a person instead of an organization. that almost made me want to throw up, sorry.

Anyways, it was on purpose, im sure. i dont think it was a testing site beucase america has been supplying israel with supplies for a long time. it was just tension that evolved. Lebanon and Israel have been having problems let alone the terrorist organization occupying it.

No, the soldiers were never released. Israel caved. Too bad. Maybe we need more American made weapon testing.

No, they did not release the soldiers.

However, they were rather surprised at the strength of Israel's reaction, losing quite a lot of their own fighters.

Israel's actions had a real purpose and benefit. They have laid responsibility squarely on the UN for upholding its mandate to Hezbollah's disarmament. If the UN does not do its job, again, it will be directly responsible, again, for more outbreaks of violence.
