If not did he want to die for our sins?

Sorry for the offensive question I just want to see the answers.

"Do you think I cannot call on my father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? But how then would the scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?" Matthew 26:53-54.

A legion in the period of Jesus consisted of about 5 to 6 thousand men. So when Jesus says his Father would send 12 legions of angels to protect him he's talking about 60 to 72 thousands angels, though I'm sure theoretically one would be more than enough.

We know according to Matthew Jesus could have stopped his death but was more concerned with doing his fathers will. I'm not saying this is true or not true, right or not right, but I am saying one can follow a logical train of thought to conclude that Jesus according to this scripture let himself die for some greater cause.

Would I call this suicide? Well it is hard to say. Would I jump in front of a bus to save another person? I could definitely conceive of it. Does this mean this act is also suicide? I would instead term this self sacrifice.

Thanks for asking! I don't consider it offensive b/c you didn't present it offensively.

Okay, to the answer.. Jesus said that no man could take His life, but that He laid it down, gave it freely. This is the answer. And no, this isn't suicide. It was an eternal sacrifice. If He had wanted to commit suicide, He wouldn't have risen from the dead.

NO. Jesus did not commit suicide. Jesus' death is a sacrificial death to ransom us from all our sins. The reason He came to earth is to take away our sins as you put your trust in Him. For without the shedding of His blood, there is no remission of sins.

Jesus Christ...the way !

Your question appears to focus on Jesus Christ as a normal person.

He should be viewed as trying to tell a message, a way to a different reaction to abuse, injustice, violence and condemnation; forgiveness.

I saw on TV today the parents of a young girl killed, murdered, and the parents have sought to react by promoting 'a random act of kindness'....

Seems they have understood the positive message of Jesus Christ and 'the cross'....

It is a difficult road, a road of insults, a road of abuse, a road of injustice...and Christians are called to walk the walk...

according to the story Jesus planned and carried out (with help from his most trusted disciple Judas) a suicide by centurion. there's no way around it. he knew he was about to be arrested for causing a near riot in a city occupied by a hostile army. if he didn't want to employ his super powers he could have simply told Judas not to give up his position then jumped on a fast donkey out of town.

Jesus had to die and obeyed His Fathers will to endure the cross and to fulfill prophecy of His life and death. Thank you Jesus for taking my sins by your shed blood at the cross!

Suicide is when you take your own life, not lay it down for the betterment of other people.

Jesus begged the Father to find another way, three times, and finally submitted to what had to happen for our salvation.

This isn't offensive. No, it wasn't suicide. He knew what God wanted Him to do and why.

If he could have prevented it, yes. It's like suicide by cop.
