"Selam" as she is being called, or the Dikika Baby is for real. I love her little face. I wonder what her little life was like....

She is our ancestor. Like it or not. Believe it or not. Will it affect christianity...the most deluded religion in the world. No. Their religion has built in safety features for anything that might rock the boat. These 'safety' features are denial, circular reasoning and most importantly demonizing the enemy (or information as the case may be). Someone asked a question here that has made an indelible mark on me...they asked...'if I could provide undeniable proof that god does not exist would you leave your religion/faith?' The answer from christians was a resounding "no, I would still believe". Christianity is truly a form of insanity in my opinion, as nothing will change their minds. It is as if they wear Kevlar on their heads to protect them from reality.

Brainwashed idiots are never swayed by facts,so it will have little or no effect on most Christians. They have been disproven so many times by science that they have practically lost track of where their story currently stands. The most famous of course being the idea that the church taught that according to scripture the Earth was the center of the universe and that the sun revolved around it,when this was disproven by science they promptly freaked on the scientist and at one point it's safe to say his life was in genuine danger. In fact as galileo proposed this idea it comes with the backdrop that in 1600 Giordano Bruno was burned at the stake for putting forth the same sort of idea,an idea started by Copernicus. What the church in all this time has never given an adequate answer to is this simple fact,if the Bible is indeed the inspired word of God how is it that God,the all powerful ruler of the universe could miss such a basic scientific fact. Of course religion is so much easier to deal with when you decide you don't need facts.

If you read the Bible, you might have a different opinion of what Christians think. Not all Christians think the same. What is a "Christian scholar"? How does one determine the age of a 3.3 million year-old skeleton? As far as I know, the age is measured by BP (boiling point) and not years, and certainly by man's measure of a year. Hand me suppositions based on man-made measure and compare them to God-given life and I will tell you that neither is tangible and neither can be proven. ALL science is based on belief in a theory and ALL religion is based on Faith in a doctrine. Tell me how they differ? I do love questions like this though. It's akin to "Show me yours and I'll show you mine," and neither of us have anything but belief. I happen to think my belief will gain me eternal life in peace and joy as I commune with the Almighty God and fellowship with my brethren. What will yours gain you? I'm not being snide. I just don't understand the argument that neither side can verify to the others satisfaction.

The survival of Christianity cannot possibly depend on a skeleton or its origin etc !
Maybe, that Christianity also refers to origin of mankind, and some doubts could be arisen due to this skeleton !
An intelligent interpretation out of deep understanding of Christianity can easily convince that reference to Man might have a deeper reference that what the word today means to common people(like when we say just men, we also imply that they are sane, rational thinking and evolved to the extent of self-awareness of being a human) !

Dellows link is a joke, the author is evidently not researched or well educated in the Bible.

There is absolutely no concrete evidence that this skeleton is 3.3 million years old- there is no dating method that is 100% foolproof.

Regardless, it will have no effect on TRUE Christianity because whenever God chose to create the earth, the fact is that He created it and it is His.

can you tell me exactly how they are going to "prove" that the skeleton is 3.3 million...is that a fact? or more like a guess? ..just like they think that the sun is 4.6 billion years old when no one can get close enough to really examine it...people sure are gullible. right on Reformed, bravo, I wish I was the one who got to pick the best answer cause yours is the best that I have read

Not all Christians accept that the earth is 6,000 +/- years old. To be a Christian is to believe that Jesus Christ's death and resurrection was/is atonement for our sins. God is not limited by time or space or method of creation. Therefore, finding any fossil, whether is be a 3.3m year old "humanoid" or a 150m year old fossil of any kind should not affect Christianity in any way.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Prov 9:10

And on the third day God created dinosaur bones and made them to appear mighty old, and cast them deep into the earth, then he said it was good.

And on the fourth day God created carbon dating to remove any shadows of doubt, then he said it was good.

It won't. God Bless you. I believe every word of the bible is infallible, and that science only affirms the bible.
