In hell, at least you're alive.

um, if you were in hell you would want to be nonexistent. I believe in Heaven and Hell, so I am more afraid of Hell. However, I'm not afraid I'll go there. I'm saved only by God's grace, so I'm on my way to Heaven. But think of the matter this way: I would rather live my life believing in God and die to "find out" there is no God, than to live life believing there is none and find out there is.

Another thing, you weren't "scared" or afraid before you were born, right? That's because you were nonexistent. Therefore, even though your soul (spirit) will definitely exist after death, if you WERE nonexistent after death, there would be nothing to be afraid of. However, this point is somewhat meaningless being you WILL be in existence after the death of your body.

And in Hell you will be continually dying. The Bible talks of Hell as the place where 'the worm dieth not'. However, Jesus spoke of it as 'death'. These do not contradict. You have to think into it and believe it for what it is. You die continually. You seek to finally die but you won't. You'll be in torments. Thus you won't really be 'living' but you won't be dead. Therefore you're dying. Continually.

That's an interesting question to point out. If Christians fear Hell, do atheists fear non-existence? But we know nothing of Hell other than a lot of the symbolism about it thrown into the Bible. If it truly is the worst imaginable punishment, what if Hell *is* non-existence? Maybe the worst punishment for a sinner would be to lose his soul, his existence, his God-given sense of purpose...

The difference is you know what hell is going to be like. Non-existence isn't anything.

Hell is eternal death. I think non-existence would be so much better. What kind of a "life" would hell be?

Hell because personally I have some grudges to settle. I will be able to take care of some business. When I go I will be purpose driven!

Neither. I've accepted for a long time that this is all the time we have. That doesn't bother me a bit. I've lived a full life, seen and done things others only dream about. I want to see my kids to a successful adulthood, and then I'm good to go if my time should come.

.Non-existence.

The Acrostic in Pslams 37 explains how a soul will be extinquished. So me thinks non-existence is not a good thing.

Neither. Because I have absolute confidence that I will live in heaven, not because I am good enough, I'm not.
But because of the eternal sacrifice of Jesus, whose blood cleanses us from sin.

Neither.
I don't believe in Hell and this is the only life.

Hell doesn't exist and you'll never even know when you cease to exist.
