My daughter went to a nail salon to have nails put on. She had a hangnail on her thumb so the nail tech cut it off. When she did she cut her thumb. five days later she was on an operating table with a hand surgeon working to save her thumb. Her thumb had swollen 4 times its normal size. That has been 1 year ago and she still doesnt have full range> Im not trying to bash ALL nail salons Just please check outhow sanitary yours is.

wow. did your daughter get tested for antibodies for hepatitis b, hepatitis c and hiv? if not, i would!!!!

sorry to hear about her ordeal. i would find a reputable place that would allow your daughter to have her "own" set of tools for getting her nails done. it would certainly keep infectious diseases down to a minimum!!!

good luck and have her get some tests done! especially hepatitis c.....(in normal blood labs, sometimes the alt and ast levels appear normal so have them run an antibody test!)

:O)

I have completely stopped going to nail salons, since I have no way of knowing how sanitary they are. Even the better ones can have problems. We recently had a girl in our town come down with that flesh eating bacteria from a nail salon. I wish the very best to your daughter and appreciate your telling her story.

I would not go to that nail salon. Sorry about your daughter. Glad you informed us of the problems you had stemming from that visit. I hope you have a law suit
going on for your daughters behalf.

i had a manicure for my friend's wedding. the nail stylist injured my cuticle. just a small little nick. however, it formed a scar within the cuticle and where that part of the nail grows out, the nail splits vertically. i have to keep it trimmed as far down as possible to keep it from splitting all the way down the nail bed! painful and annoying!

never again!

This, along with completely ruing my nails, is why I'm afraid to go to any beauty salon where I don't know the workers personally. O.O
