What would stop us from completely becoming the environment or fusing with god if we had no ego to identify with

Hi Corey,
From my current level of understanding this is how I look at this. Our ego or personality is composed of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual attributes. These combined give us our identity as a self and define to ourselves who we are. Physical creation in its entirety is the physical display of God's physical body and every living entity functions as a cell much like each of our cells has a specific purpose but together compose our physical body.

So, when we die we shed our physical vehicle but our emotions and thoughts and aspirations still exist in our consciousness as our identity. They still define to us who we are. Our consciousness takes a break from physical living and we exist in something similar to a dream state. If our emotions and thoughts have been positive and seen heaven on earth, we will experience a heavenly atmosphere. If we're overwhelmed with guilt and believe we've deserved hell, the dream state will mirror those beliefs.

That spark of identity, our self, will eventually decide to return to the physical plane to gain more experience and we'll take on a new body and a whole gamut of new experiences.
I think that over a course of hundreds of lifetimes we grasp the awareness that we are always fused with God and develop a true sense of oneness with all of creation then the ego, the sense of self gradually merges with the cosmic consciousness.

At this juncture we step into the shoes of those who can earnestly say, "Not my will but thine be done" and dedicate our entire being to serving the divine Self as we truly realize we were never separated from fusion except by our ego and lower personality. Separation was an illusion created by our ego in order to gain new experiences.

Sorry, that sort of turned into a treatise instead of simple answer!

Blessings!

We will have no need or desire to. The Bible teaches that old things have passed away, all things are new. Our minds will be renewed. Ego trips are a human, earthly, thing. Was Jesus Himself on an ego trip? ... No. We will be enjoying heaven and want for nothing more.
