In my experience as a dog rescuer, lots of dogs enjoy chewing on rawhide. On the other hand, a couple of dogs I've had get diahareea (Spelled wrong) from rawhide, so I don't use it for any of them. If your dog loves them and has no digestive problems, go for it. But consider it a pastime, not part of their regular feeding routine.

very little but they are very bad for your dog. Especially if he is small or likes to swallow large pieces of the rawhide. They often times get stuck in the intestines and can cause serious problems for your dog and to fix it it costs a lot of money....like over $1,000. So be very careful. Other treat out there are much better for your dog and much safer.

p.s soup bones arent much better they can splinter and cause bleeding in the intestines and injury the lining of the stomach...

I was told that the pig ears aren't good for a dog because of coloring stuff (forgive me I can't remember the exact reason). But rawhide is supposed to be good for dogs teeth. Except that my dog won't chew on a rawhide bone unless I wet if for him first. He's a big sissy Sheltie pup.

My dog almost choked to death on a rawhide bone. He is a rottweiller.

Don't think so, but I was told by a friend who trains puppies to be service dogs for some organization in Florida, that they use formaldehyde (sp) when making them, so he refuses to give them to his pups. Not sure if that's true, but worth checking into.

I stopped giving it to my dogs, they ended up fighting, and one would always throw them up. I started buying soup bones in the grocery store, cooked them in some water and used those, they absolutely loved them, but again stopped because of the fighting.

I don't think so. Actually, they're not very good for dogs. I don't think that they digest very well, or something. Try to find something that's designed to help keep teeth clean, like Greenies or C.E.T. Chews. Just make sure you give your dog the proper size and monitor him/her while she's chewing.

Most have little are no value other than give your dog something to do.
Depending on who you talk to most people say they are bad for your dog, We have been giving them to our Dogs for years with no problems, we have Chihuahuas, Bull Mastiffs, Mastiffs and 57s.
You can do like my wife does and soak them in different broths and then put them in the oven to cook the flavor in a little before you give it to them.
We also give them to our macaw.
