Make a flier with pull off phone numbers on your PC and post them in laundry mats, bulletin boards at stores and make lost of copies and go into housing developments and put them in people's doors, NOT MAILBOXES. If you live in a touristy area, hit the B&B's and motels. Place a free ad on www.craigslist.com. Do you live near a military housing base or complex? If so, call the housing department and ask how to get on a contractor's list, it isn't as scary as it seems. I did it putting myself through college for 10 years.

Look in the yellow pages for cleaning companies and call and ask if they are presently hiring. Do you have references from people whose houses you have cleaned? You can also put up ads on the community boards at churches and senior citizen centers. Put together a list of who you have worked for, the dates you worked, and the duties you performed -- like a resume. Also ask some people you have worked for to be references along with a non-relative who knows you well.
