Dogs and cats both have very little ability to see color. Their eyesight is geared towards seeing movement rather than color. Dogs and cats are carnivores, meaning that they eat only meat. If they were in the wild, they would need to hunt to survive. Seeing movement is much more important than seeing color if you are tracking a mouse through the underbrush.

We humans have color sight because we are omnivores. We have decent enough movement detection, but we need color to see what plants are safe to eat and what plants are poisonous. Red tends to be a warning color, so red things can be fatal if you eat them. It was advantageous to have color sight, so that's why we still have it.

some hues are dominant and a few are recessive. for example in case you have a siamese who had an easy moggy in its ancestry it might carry the gene for that - yet whilst it became mated to a organic bred Siamese the kits would maximum in all probability all look Siamese. yet whilst the father additionally had some moggy in his blood line you would be able to desire to get a mix of siamese kits and colored ones - a great marvel! So the colour of kittens you get can remember on the bloodlines of the two mothers and dads. as properly it rather is amazingly conceivable that a cat could have kittens by 2 separate fathers. We as quickly as had a Siamese who have been given out whilst she became on warmth and she or he had a clutter of 5 all distinctive hues. If a sort of for this reason mated with a Siamese or with yet another a million/2 and a million/2 kitten like herself there would desire to returned be a blended clutter of Siamese visual charm and moggy. All sturdy exciting.

I've heard from some people that they only see black and white. But I've also heard that they see some color, just not as good as us.

Yes! Both cats and dogs only see in shades of grey. They have keen sense of smell and of hearing to make up for it though.
