My dad passed away a few years ago and I want to get some kind of memorial tattoo for him but I have no idea what I want it to look like or say. Does anyone have one or have any ideas?

What do you think of when you think of your dad? Is there something that uniquely represents him? If it is in memory of him you need to pick something that really represents him or a special memory. Like my grandmother loved humming birds so if I was going to do one for her it would be humming birds. What did your dad like?

A myspace page? How sweet and heart-felt. Why get a tattoo that will forever remind you of your family member when you could just make a myspace page instead? Ridiculous. I think that the memorial tattoo is a wonderful idea, and it's a design that will actually mean something. I've been fortunate enough to have nobody truly important to me die, so no I don't have a memorial tattoo. Oh and to the above poster, that verse in the bible to which you refer speaks about pagan rituals of tattooing, and I doubt a memorial tattoo is a pagan ritual.

My grandmother passed away 3 weeks ago, so I am sorry to hear about your dad. For my memorial tattoo I got a yellow rose on my foot with her name. I put it there because it is something you will see everyday because you always have to put on shoes. I also put it there on my body because my grandmother was a Strong woman and your feet / legs are Strong they hold up your body, right? It all depends on what you want, go with your heart...maybe something the two of you shared together, or an inside joke. Something personal. Good luck out there :)

Hi. I'm sorry to hear about your Dad. I think I would wait and give this a lot of thought for two reasons. The tattoo techniques are getting better and it is possible to do a lifelike portrait, and two, you want something that YOU will like. It IS your body.

Was your dad in the army? I think it would be cool to get his army tag tattooed on you. Or maybe get a pic of him and do a portrait with his birth/death date. Sorry for you loss.

My boyfriend had tats of roses on each arms so when he died I got a rose on my arm with his name. Just think of something personal that will remind you of your Dad.
