there is a product of Stila's that you can purchase at Sephora. It's an absorbing powder that smells great and makes your hair less oily. I don't know if it's the same as talc powder. I hope it works! Good luck!

Oily hair hangs limp against your head and does not have any life or bounce. Everyone likes to have shiny, bouncy hair and this may seem a difficult task with oily hair. There are remedies for oily hair and here are a few tips on how to manage oily hair.

* Do not wash your hair everyday. If your hair is clean your glands will secrete more oil. Use a cleaning shampoo to wash your hair and to scrub off the oil build up. Use a mild shampoo and scrub lightly.
* While applying conditioner, do not apply to the roots only apply in the middle or to the ends.
* Reduce the oil intake in your diet. Avoid oily food. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. Avoid drugs, alcohol and oils.
* You should consider changing your shampoo. Ask your stylist what you should use. Avoid using the two-in-one shampoos with conditioner.
* If you have to fix oily hair at short notice then just rub in some talcum powder to the hair roots. Make sure that you wash it off later on.

These are a few tips that should help your hair from looking oily and preventing oil build up. It is not easy and you will have to work at it.

I would skip on the conditioner it might be whats making your hair oily. Other than that I would try a different brand of shampoo. Maybe something that is a clarifier. I also dont use any products and sometimes my hair is oily. I just skip my regular shampoo and use a clarifying shampoo. But I use Back to Basics all the time and I love it. Another idea is to wash your hair using bottled water. It feels awesome.

Odd as it may sound...

Many people have oily hair because they wash it too often. Daily washing encourages the production of oil.

I'd go with a drying soap and definitely no conditioner. On days you aren't leaving the house try not to wash it. When you do wash it don't wash it twice. Once is more than enough. And don't scrub your scalp too hard. It is recommended that you wash your scalp with the "flats" of your fingers, not your nails.

We all shower and wash hair daily but it's actually not that good for either our scalps or our skin. We're too clean!

BTW... tinting or perming will dry out your hair! The good news is that it will be less oily as you get a little older.

Get to a Beauty Supply Store or a place like Wal-Mart and read the ingredients if not sure r ask for help. U need to get one that is specifically for oily hair. U might want to get a clarifying or cleansing shampoo. Try TRESsemme' products r real good and affordable and should have one for oily type hair. Main thing ask for help in this dept. if u don't have any clue. Its all about the ingredients used in these products. Good luck.

all soft tells me there that the shampoo may contain some natural oils, you need to use a shampoo specifcally for oily hair, If your hair is long, condition the hair strands only, keep off the scalp. Dont use talc powder, bad for the scalp, plugs follicles of scalp and worsens the problem.

This may sound odd, but don't wash your hair daily. no matter what type hair you have, too much shampoo and conditioner will strip away the scalp's natural oils, causing more oiliness in hair. Slow down to every other day, and see what happens. And make sure that the days you wash your hair, the shampoo or conditioner is designed for oily hair.

Many factors can contribute to the condition of oily or unhealthy hair - washing hair improperly with commercial, drying shampoos; washing without stimulating the scalp to remove oil; rinsing incompletely; and not brushing thoroughly enough to stimulate the scalp's circulation and to distribute oils. All of these affect the health of your hair. Styling products, stress, and poor diet can also lead to excess oil production.

Have your stylist cut your oily hair in lots of layers. This allows the hair to retain bounce and the scalp to receive plenty of fresh air; it also prevents tangling. As your hair's condition improves, you'll feel more comfortable wearing longer styles with fewer layers. Also, keep oily hair off your forehead to prevent breakouts.

Treatment:

2 egg yolks
4 tsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice
4 tsp. grape-seed oil

Let the yolks reach room temperature, and mix them with the lemon juice.
Use a whisk to stir the grape-seed oil drop by drop into the old mixture until it has a creamy consistency.
Massage your scalp for 5 minutes with the mixture, distributing it evenly, and leave on for 1 hour.
Shampoo out, using cool water.

Ok, first of all, the more you wash your hair, the oilyer it will get. This is because washing your hair everyday strips the hair of its natural moisture and to make up for that loss, your scalp overproduces oil. You shouldn't wash your hair everyday. At the most it should only be washed every other day. (unless it is extremly DIRTY) You can try a shampoo for oily hair Sunsilk, Aussie, or you could use Dove. I use Dove personally because it leaves the natural oils and washes away the dirt and grime. Plus it has weightless moisturizers that don't weigh your hair down.

They say not to wash your hair daily but that don't do any good for people who have natural oily hair. Try some different shampoos for Oily hair ONLY. Also most conditions will make your hair oily much quicker too. (For some people not all people) You can try to use some baby power also. I would not pour it directly on your hair. When your hair is dry but some in your hands and run your fingers threw your hair. (or comb/brush it in your hair) Rinse your hair in vinegar as well.
