There is no, "WHAT IF" Every thing Jesus said about the way we should live is what everyone expects out of everyone else that they meet, see or associate with. Everything in the Ten Commandments, HE summed up in the word LOVE. And that is what every single human being wants, expects and have a right to!

The truth is he said, I am the Way, "the Truth", and the Life.
So all that he said was true. The Spirit of God bears witness with our spirit that he is who he says he is and he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
