I'm not targeting any particular belief here but the idea that one can be considered "Chosen".

You would think more people would pull their dreams or idea of "heaven" into the now.

With all the subtle hints and not so subtle but blatantly obvious hints that tell us we can do anything we put our minds to.

It seems like the key word here is "minds".

Are we capable of bringing our thoughts, ideas, and creations into the physical world without distractions?

Obviously I could get some shallow answers and point gamers, but really?

Are we creating Heaven right now with every thought, action, or daydream we experience?

To be a chosen people first indicates that someone other self is doing the chosing!

2ndly depending upon the one chosing whether it is of condition that warrants wanting to be chosen by the one doing the choosing.

3rdly To be a chosen people thus dictates that there are some that are not chosen and the chosen hold something better than the ones who are not chosen.

4thly Thus it is how great is the degree of those who are chosen hold a particular character beyond those that are not chosen.

5thly The choosing can only be classified by one who has the ability to produce a characteristic, classification, difference, position, exaltation, declaration, condition, purpose, and empowerment above and beyond those who are not chosen.

6thly The chosen cannot be of a mental only chosing, because to just think that you are chosen, doesn't conventionally and dramatically identify you as chosen, for just thinking and mentally being chosen cannot be proven on that same grounds that someone other than the one "mentally" saying they are chosen - identifies them as chosen. I cannot chose myself to be the chosen person. Because there is by that act no chosing at all. Chosing is entirely describing someone other than self.

lastly Chosen, means both future glorification and present glorification. in the future the chosen are given all that is identified to them by the one who chooses, for in chosing to recieve such identification impartation of some type of change must be undergone, must be transferred, thus it shows that one has been directly chosen, that in the greater glorification of the chosen all is accomplished as guaranteed by the one who chooses to be bestowed to the one chosen

You may not like this answer but here it is:

The Jews have always considered themselves the "chosen" people, but scripturally they are only 1/12th of the chosen people. Anyone born into the House of Israel is considered the "chosen people." What this means is this: In the pre-earth life some spirits were more valiant defending the cause of truth and right in the war in heaven (in which Lucifer and 1/3rd of the hosts of heaven were cast out). Those individuals who fought the most valiantly in the pre-earth life were rewarded with a natural, spiritual sensitivity to hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ in mortality. They naturally believe it when they are taught the gospel in its fulness. That is why the LDS church sends missionaries out into the world. They are seeking the House of Israel as they go from door to door. A lot of people do not accept the gospel when they hear it--chances are they are not the House of Israel. However a lot of people DO accept it (about 1600 people a day are baptized in the LDS church). The term "chosen" means they were chosen to receive the blessings of the gospel in mortality as a reward for their faithfulness in the pre-mortal existance. Ironic as this many sound, members of other faiths (so-called "Christian" or not) who fight against the restored gospel of Jesus Christ are probably NOT members of the House of Israel. Funny, huh?

I hope not, many people are thinking terrible things. If all our thoughts went to heaven then heaven would be worse off than Earth.
I think thoughts are like clouds, they form and then we let them disperse. No big deal. Live out lives, take care of each other, live for Earth, not heaven.

...Israel WAS God's "chosen people" going back to a promise God made to Abra(ha)m.

Genesis 12:1 The LORD had said to Abram, “Leave your country and your people. Leave your father’s family. Go to the land I will show you. 2 “I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you. I will make your name great. You will be a blessing to others. 3 I will bless those who bless you. I will put a curse on anyone who calls down a curse on you. All nations on earth will be blessed because of you.”

God fulfilled the last part of the promise (all nations blessed) in Jesus. That ENDED Israel's status.

that is a good question. they say the pope is "chosen" but when the pope dies, they just get a new one, and it happened so quickly last time. i think no one is chosen and we can make heaven right here right now if we wanted to. all you have to do is be happy.

what you pave here- you also pave in heaven-- those who have done the work of the lord on this earth have also done good in the eyes of the lord and shall rule in his kingdom by his side-- these "chosen ones" will be the angels and saints of the lord that will guide the faithful in everlasting eternity

Who's doing the choosing? God choose His people and called them Jews. Jesus called His followers and called them His church. I guess that covers the Biggies.

"Chosen People" are those who follow God by following the guidance he has sent down upon them (mankind).
