Hounds will hunt, even in the kitchen! A woman posted pictures here of her Basset on top of the stove! LOL! At least he isn't opening the refrigerator, I know people who have to lock theirs.

My dog does the same thing! She will take advantage of any opportunity to score a loaf. Maybe a chair too close he can get up on?
We keep our bread in the frig. The bread stays fresh a little longer and the dog can't reach it.

Dogs are clever creatures and when they want something they can be pretty resourceful. Plant a camera and see how the little lad does his trick.
