I'm an inexperienced wiccan and I'm looking for some good books to gain a better understanding of the craft.

Read some older stuff, Golden Bough, White Goddess, Aradia.
For more recent work I like Rhiannon Ryall, Ly De Angeles, Anna Moura, Raven Grimmassi, Kerr Cuhlain, A.J. Drew. Witches Bible by the Farrars is a good one, it is a compilation of two books and contains good bit of information.
Read everything you can get your hands on and take nothing at face value.

The Rev. has a great list of excellent books here but PLEASE do us all a favour and SKIP anything by Aleister Crowley. It's inappropriate, unhelpful and positively dangerous. Just don't read Crowley and then you won't have to crowbar it out of your mind one day in the future.

I also recommend the books by Fiona Horne, a modern Australian witch who had her own women's rock band before becoming a writer. Her witchcraft is simple, friendly, sexy, cheerful, and she cheerfully admits all her mistakes so we know she's human and accessible. Great for beginners!
