Obviously if you have caller ID or *69 you can get the number. Most phone companies also can tell you who the last caller was, and you can lodge a complaint with them. If you have the number and want to find out who it belongs to you can use:
www.searchbug.com OR do a search in the web white pages
The phone company is your best bet all the way around, because if you decide to take legal action they are probably your best chance for follow up.

If you know it's there home number..what else do you need to track the number? Are you trying to track the address or are you just curious how caller Id works?*69 will track your last call.Caller Id will let you know if there is a unknown caller calling and you can choose not to answer it.911 is used if your scared and you think someone is calling and trying to hurt you or something.Look in the front of your phone book...it has a feature in there that allows you to add privacy direct to your phone.Meaning they can't get through to your line unless they unblock there number.Or you can just block the number that's prank calling you.All of that is in the front of your phone book.

Go into whitepages.com, click on reverse phone number, and hopefully it is listed. Otherwise, call your phone company and ask if there is a way you can have it traced. Hope this answers your question.

Find their phone number (if you have caller ID, that'll work, or you can *69 them, but there's a charge).
Then go here:
http://www.whitepages.com/10001/reverse_phone
