Here's an old Incan proverb:
Information is knowing that rain is water.
Knowledge is knowing how to make it rain.
Wisdom is knowing why you made it rain.

I don't define progress in material terms. If I can do something to help someone in any given moment, I have made progress.

You know, it's funny that we sometimes spend years "progressing" in one direction, only to find that we were heading nowhere. At least, that's how I would describe my life as an atheist.
I now would define progress as becoming closer to God.
