Can you give a rational, scientistic answer to it? Or do you claim it is false?

They are now but if you read they were not originally. They spent many years in the ground. Some in the bare ground.

I can't speak to the veracity of the web page without closely inspecting the bodies myself. I rather doubt that would be allowed as they are considered so sacred by so many people.

As to "corruption," glass cases, and controlled climates will not prevent decay. If the body is not dried promptly (like mummification in a desert and all its associated distortion of features) then the bacteria in the gut is more than enough to consume the flesh and to create a putrid smell. This incorruption, if not facilitated with make-up, embalming, etc. cannot be explained with glass cases or "germ-free" environments. Likewise, many gut bacteria thrive in oxygen-free environments. They also are involved in particularly malodorous decay.

I know of a preserved body that is not of the catholic faith. For that matter this body had no religion and was preserved even longer. It is the body of a mammoth. Now is it a miracle no a miracle is something that you can not explain away. Here is an example of a miracle, the immaculate conception. Three men walking out of fire with out a scorch mark on even their clothes. Of course I believe in miracles like a javelin that went through a mans neck and didn't hit anything major. A car accident that even the police don't understand how they have survived. My children not even supposed to be because my husband was zapped with radiation and 99.9 percent sterilized. I having been to small to carry children at all and we have two these are miracles. Not the fact that these so called saints weren't buried and put in glass coffins their people just like us and only god can say whether or not they are saints.and we won't know unless we go to heaven. Don't put stock in what the church says is a miracle now if one of them rises from the dead I will concede and say yep that's a saint, however I will not say if that person is a saint of God or of Satan. And that is how I see it. Sorry if this offends.

I can think of several mundane explanations:

1: The website is simply a deception.
2: The bodies exist but they're not real.
3: The bodies are real but they're embalmed.
4: Some natural process preserved them.

We have examples of other bodies in the same state of preservation who were not religious figures, so the preservation in itself is not remarkable.

At the end of the day, why would a real god footle around with little signs and hints of his existence, all of which have far more believable down-to-earth explanations (most likely human deception)? That's kind of demeaning to a god, to have the evidence of his existence so easily confused with hoaxes, isn't it? If a god really existed and really wanted us to believe in him then we would just believe in him, simple as that. There's a whole mass of things which religious people claim to be signs of a god but they're all characterised by one common theme:

They are all exactly what you would expect humans to produce if there was really no god but they wanted you to believe there is one.

Draw your own conclusions...

ADDENDUM: I think this is the real Debra M as the date (April 2006) sounds right. Handy little feature, that...

Easy,
1. They are lying to you.
2. They get some nun to lie down and remain still. Every new generation of people will have no idea if its the same person or not. They just look hard for a very good look alike.
3. They are just lying to you. oops I said that already.

The same phenomenon occurs in many religions, not just in Catholic Christianity. In China, there are Daoist monks sealed in caves who have lived for decades without food or water. Every religion has its miracles, and therefore I am afraid that I can't take any of them as evidence for the truth of those religions' conflicting claims.

I am therefore inclined to believe that they are natural processes for which, as yet, science has no adequate models. They would certainly be interesting subjects for scientific study.

lemme find you a link of an even older non christian body perfectly preserved.. one sec.

I was unable to find the one I was thinking of. I remember seeing it while I was younger, I believe it was in Asia.. I do remember that it was perfectly preserved.

Sorry. It is pretty neat to see that the bodies are preserved in such a manner though. Thanks for the links.

Scientistic isn't a word--it's scientific, and I question everything because God gave me the intelligence to do it--too bad you were not as blessed

Interesting.

I'd want to have independent vertification of this.

But interesting.
