Right click on the My Computer icon usually on desktop. Left click on Properties. You should read version at the top right of the window that opens.

Pretty easy... if your looking for a general description:
right click on my computer and click properites.
Then look at the first tab that comes up. you'll see which version of winblows that is installed and which service pack
ther is also a way to do it from the cmd prompt but can't remember.
finally you can boot your machine in safe mode, and at the top of the screen it will give the version.

On the Start bar, go to My Computer, right click on it and choose Properties. A block will pop up telling you the version (Home or Pro) and any Service Packs installed. Chow

Right click on 'My Computer' icon on your desktop and you'll get drop down menu, then you'll get 'property' at the bottom of menu. Select it. New window will open and you can see the full operating sytem details.
