No, I don't think that it's wrong. God wants to be a part of every aspect of your life, and that includes sports. However, I do think it's important to maintain perspective in your life. I knew a guy who was a really good basketball player and kept a poster in his locker that said, "I play for an audience of one." Whether you're playing a musical instrument, or playing a sport, with God as your #1 perspective, you can't go wrong.

LOL Didn't David have faith in God to slay Goliath?
This sounds like a question a young Christian would ask. So I will tell you as I would talk to a Christian.
If these things are not done for your own glory but to edify the Spirit and strengthen your testimony for Jesus then, no it is not a sin. Do not seek glory for yourself but seek to glorify your Father who is in heaven.
Such things can help your testimony; If people see that you are well adopted and excel in things they will wonder what your secret is. You can answer simply that you just put your faith in God and do your best. In time many will ask you about your religion this is the seed you have planted as it breaks ground, it is a fragile thing so don't try to grasp the moment like it's a full grown tree you are going to climb or you will crush the fruits of your labor for Christ. Trust in God's Spirit with humility and not zeal and let the spirit, that still small voice be your guide.

it is not wrong to have faith in God to succeed and excel in sports. God loves sports and he wants you to do well. But it is important that you keep God #1 in your life and he will help you with your sports, because he wants your best.

God wants you to excel in all you do, and he wants to be inculed, you can be a great witness on the field of any sport, as well on the harvist field, its how you act in all your life, but God wants you too, Psalm 1:1-3
1 Happy is the man who does not walk in the way sinful men tell him to, or stand in the path of sinners, or sit with those who laugh at the truth.
2 But he finds joy in the Law of the Lord and thinks about His Law day and night.
3 This man is like a tree planted by rivers of water, which gives its fruit at the right time and its leaf never dries up. Whatever he does will work out well for him.

It all depends, if you truly believe in God and that is what He has asked of you to do with your life, but if you truly believe in God then He will tell you what He wants you to live and be in His Name and for His Name sakes - the relationship that you have with Him dictates that - however, there is alot of proffessional athletes that are genuine Christians. I would have to say though for the record there is a greater thing that God has called you into that will serve him and exalt Jesus more than sports, seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you. But it is the kingdom of God First and foremost not an after thought. or a sideline relationship.

It's wrong to have faith in God no matter what you're doing. Faith is the root of all evil. Here's a link to a video by Richard Dawkins that explains why:

I suppose not. However, every Friday night across America two football teams pray to the same God and one team always loses. That's kind of hard to explain isn't it?
