A lot of times my 4 yr old takes a nap with me, I don't see any harm in it because I need the nap too. But if you don't want to go to sleep and your child needs to then you have got to lay down the law. Even if they scream for a while. Some kids just don't take naps and it doesn't mean you are a bad parent. My kid just lays in there and stares at the wall for an hour. I only give her a nap now if I can tell she is really tired or she is sick. But when I do make her take a nap sometimes she cries but I still make her take the nap and make sure she has no toys in her bed. And if she says she wants to sleep with me I just gotta tell her no. If you keep giving in, it starts some where. She will try to get you to give in every where else as well. Good luck!

Depends on the age of the child if younger than 6 enjoy it now if older they should take naps on their own. But if it's the only way to get the younger child to take a nap then you may have to try getting then to do it on their own by placing them in their room or on the couch or floor and sit a distance away just to let them know that you are there. Or you can lay with them for a bit and then get up and move when they fall asleep.

Enjoy it! Most mothers would love the idea that their child will nap with them. Enjoy them always wanting to be with you no matter how much space you feel you need. It won't take long for them to start tring to gain their Independence from you and when that happens, you'll miss it.

Whats wrong with them wanting to be close to you? I let my child take a nap with me if she wants. Children are only small once, then they are gone.

I LOVE cuddling up with my kids for a nap. I realize that one day they won't want to anymore so I allow it and will continue to enjoy it while it lasts.

well just take a nap with them, and if you dont have time, lay them down and lay beside them, when they are asleep you can get up and go about your regular work

At a certain age , usually by kindergarten( if it hasn't happened sooner ) you tell them it's time to be a "big boy/ or girl ". Start out by reading them a short story-then they are on their own .

if its a nap it fine but dont let it ruin your night sleep
haha i slept beside my mom till i was 13 and made my dad sleep on the couch
he actully started sleeping beside my mom a year ago
im 17 now but i guess i made him sleep on the couch so long that he liked it
i feel bad for doing that to my mom i wish she just forced me
i actully had to do it on my own besides i got older and was like urrrrr i like my own space
you just got to teach your kid to be happy for that time to sleep in there own beds they gotta learn how to comfort themself

it all depends on the age...it makes them feel more secure, so, I would let them. There is nothing more precious than love from your child.
