according to Romans 3:23, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," so therefore everyone is already a candidate for sin. so i agree. repentance wouldn't exist without sin, right? because if there was no such thing as sin, there would be no need of repentance from it.

disagree. Do you know what 'repent' means? If you decide to go to the store to buy eggs and then on the way there you realize that you got eggs yesterday and you turn around and go home, you've repented from getting eggs. Nothing spiritual about the word. It just means a totally different change in direction. God got angry at the Israelites and was going to destroy them but Moses convinced Him not to and He repented - decided not to destroy them. Not a spiritual word.

I Agree, Because we all sin all of the time, and are always in need of repentance. You can sin unknowingly, by the things you think, say or do!

No, I do not agree. First; everyone has sinned, so you & I and everyone else needs to ask God to forgive us of our sins. Then lead a life worthy of God. If we do mess up he will forgive us of that sin {if we ask him to} but we should not go out and sin to have something to repent for. God will show you what is right and what is wrong if you just ask him to. God will listen to any prayer, you do not have to sin so you can talk to him.

i disagree partially... of course repentence is a good idea. its a great idea to get closer to God. however, everyone is with sin, *except for Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary*, so with original sin, repentance is required to be cleansed of sins.

I agree, but it would be better not needing to repent in the first place. (Meaning, lets not sin.)

Let s/he who is among you without sin NOT do repentence, for there is no reason!
Maybe Yahoo should start a new catagory here. SAINTS.
I'd like to see who goes there and pretends to be one!

I agree. The reason someone repents is because they have done something wrong in the first place.

The Greek for repentance is "metanoia," which means a transformation of the mind. Since we're all limited and all in need of growth -- i.e., we're all imperfect -- repentance in that sense is necessary for all of us, whatever mistakes we've made or not made.
