We live in a society that does not respect other human beings.
People are very rude and vulgar and even ignorant of hurting other people. Despite all of our technology, the human race is not becoming more enlighten, it is becoming more and more barbaric. 5 Amish girls were murdered by a psychopath just a few days ago. The human race will not progress until people learn to love each other and stop being so- selfish and
self-absorbed. We must learn to share this planet with others and understand that life is sacred. We are part of the same human family and we have no right to hurt each other, for when we do, we hurt ourselves even more. Life is cheap in today's society. We must change this reality today, or else, we will not live to see another century. These few months when many are busy eating themselves to death, or buying many things, or stuffing ourselves with candy, we should reflect on the fact that, love is the cure for all that hurts the human race.

Maybe it is not callous but just the truth. I am a very truthful person. In my profession this is not always the best way to go. This is so because people take the truth as being rude.No matter how you say the truth it always ends up hurting someone. My father taught ne to tell the truth no matter what this if you are taught correctly will make you a very good but boring person and to most people very rude. I do not lie, steal, cheat, do drugs,I do drink rarely like on my anniversary, or New Years. As far as the feelings are concerned what ever they said or did if they don't like the truth they shouldn't say or do what ever it is they said or did. And that is how I see it.

Debra, I know you and many others care deeply about the feelings of this community of highly opinionated people.
I always try to phrase my responses in such a fashion so as to be as inoffensive as possible, but I have to realize that in spite of my best intentions, there are bound to be those who take offense, often because they are *looking* for a reason to do so. For those people, I must say I can't be overconcerned, because if I was I would never answer a question at all!
For example, if you asked a question about prayer, and I responded that I do not pray, I know that the majority of people of faith on this forum would not be offended: I have not said prayer is wrong, nor that they are wrong to pray -- merely that I myself do not. However, there will be a couple who will be beside themselves that I could say such an un-godly thing, how dare I resist god, how dare I be so self-centered as to believe there is no god... I know this is so because I have witnessed it. I feel they are in the minority, thankfully, but they are there. And though I wish it were not so, I *can't* care if I have hurt their seemingly easily bruised sensibilites, as it appears I cannot do otherwise yet be honest in my answers.

In most cases I really do care if what I do or say hurts other peoples feelings. I dont like to see any situation where a person is made to feel bad, ridiculed, etc.
Having a very sarcastic sense of humor I have to watch what I say sometimes. Ten years ago I was working at a restaurant and asked one of the new cooks (a very soft spoken young man about my age, 17) to make me some french fries. He put them down and then went outside to talk and forgot about them (we were already closed and he did it as a favor). I found then burning and took the basket outside and said "Look what you've done!" but I was just kidding and laughed about it. He took me seriously and hurried inside repeatedly saying he was sorry and began to make more. To this day I still feel bad for making him feel bad and that he thought I was really yelling at him. I assured him I was kidding and then I said sorry about 100 times, lol. We were friends for a long time after that and would joke about it.

I don't set out to hurt anyones feelings but if I do what can I say? Maybe I wouldn't even know.
Do you spend all day thinking about every single person you made the slightest contact with all day and how you may have hurt their feelings? Probably not.
All though I don't like to hurt feelings it can happen and I'm not going to worry myself over it.
This site is very much like a forum and people that come here normally know that. If you don't want a nasty answer or someone disagreeing and hurting feelings don't come here.

As a whole, I don't know everybody's feelings about everything. Everyone is different. Someone I don't know could be hurt if I wear a type of sweater if they saw me.
Thus, does it really matter if I care whose feelings I hurt? I care for those who are close to me, or I have respect for the people around me. Otherwise, most of the world does not know I exist. And probably never will know.

Some feelings are hurt way easier than others. Try teasing an Atheist or a Christian around here and see for yourself. Sensitive little people I tell ya.

I've found that many people on this site don't seem to care. I myself try to word my answers so that they are not offensive to anyone, but again, this is the real world and someone is always going to take offense.
