I believe God is referred to as male, because when he made man "in his image" it was Adam and not Eve. He is also referred to as the "Father".

Some do some do not
Howeve in the Bible God is refered to as in the male gender, because He has revealed Himself in that role as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, though some have seen a female side to God in certain terms, and in the references to the Holy Spirit. But these are debatable. It is not because it was male dominated society as atheists like to say. But it is because God has expressed the revelation of His nature in this way.

Many religions do refer to God as male. In Christianity, God is referred to as a male because Jesus states that God is his father. Similar thing with Judaism and Muslim.

Because the second Person of the Most Holy Trinity became human in male form, and because He told us to address the first Person of the Trinity as "Our Father". He also spoke of the Holy Spirit as "He". Of course this doesn't mean that God is literally male. But it does mean that this is the image in which He wishes to be seen by His people, and addressed by them.

this isn't hardship-free understanding, notwithstanding the historic Hebrews initially concept Yahweh had a spouse, Asereth, a Canannite fertitly goddess. As they more desirable strictly monothesitc beliefs, it regarded mroe organic to imagine of Yahweh as a male deity.

Because man translated the Bible. There are a lot of inaccuracies in the Bible because some was lost in translation and some words were put in there because it made sense to the translators or the King of the time said so.

Out of respect. Male general a considered to be above women so men get more respect. And we just prefer to give God respect.
He is neither male nor femal; He's a spirit actually.

It is imposable for God to create something apart from his nature. Male and female he created them. So, he is both masculine and feminine. Jesus said, "Oh, how I would have gathered you like a hen gathers her chicks." To know a mothers love you can understand Jesus statement. Baby chickens always run and huddle around their mother.
