I am an atheist, and yes, I know there are probably many books out there about it, but I would like to write my own. My question is, would yahoo answers be a viable source for finding people interested in doing email interviews about their beliefs? From boths sides of the great debate (I.e. both atheists AND christians)? Or would I just get a lot of critisism and no actual interested people?

I do not have my list of questions ready yet, so I am not asking for people's input at this time, just trying to figure out if you guys think I'd be wasting my time here. This is an actual honest question... please treat it as such.

I am not sure what I'd be reported for? I would be asking a real question (Would anyone like to offer their opinion on atheism and the church), not making a statement or advertising anything to buy, is that not true?

Thanks so far for the mature answers, I was hoping I'd get some without being flamed for stating I'm an atheist.

Well, as far as listing my sources, I would not use yahoo answers, instead, I would use the actual persons screen name (With their permission of course), but for now, it woud simply be a discovery phase, to see what people have to say from both sides.

I have argued back and forth on this topic for the past few months, and neither side seems to be gaining a foothold, so they each have very strong opinions, which is great! Thats one of the reasons I am interested in writing this.

As to the person who said the atheists bible, no. That is not what my ultimate goal is, although it may sound like that. My goal is to simply point out my reasons and the reasons other atheists have for not believing in god, and then contrast those with the ideas and beliefs of other religions.

In the process, I hope to learn much more about both sides. It is a subject that merits being written about in my opinion.

Thank you so much guys, it's nice to see atheists get together with religious people now and then without a bunch of name calling and fighting :)

In order to avoid mass emails back and forth with people, I've set up a survey on one of my sites. If you want to fill it out and help me with the research for my book, I'd love you to! The survey can be found at:
http://www.tntservice.net/atheism/index.html ...
If you know anyone else who would like to help out and answer the questions, PLEASE send them to the site. I need all the input I can get!

Be sure to fill out the right section. There is one for atheists as well as for religious people. They are both what I would consider to be fair, and unbiased. Most of the questions are very simular to the ones in the opposite section, perhaps with a few changes thrown in.

Thanks in advance everyone!

You can email me, but only if you want to hear why I think there is no such thing as an atheist. I would really like to say what I think about atheism, but I am a CHristian, so you'd know that I am bias.

Otherwise, you'll probably get a lot of serious answers, and only some retards trying to be funny, so I think that you'd be wise to use Yahoo Answers.

I'm an atheist that would be glad to participate. Contact me via the link on my profile page when you ready. If you plan to get all input via posting questions here, you might want to have a separate email list to inform us when you post questions. I generally only check Y!A a couple times a day and I don't try to catch up on all questions asked in between visits.

If it's a serious study of the subject, then I'm not too sure this site would be a great place to get information from...also you have to think about credibility, you'd have to list Yahoo answers as your source. I'd do face to face interviews instead, but that's just my opinion.

a chum offered to study something I counseled if i'd study "i've got not got sufficient faith to be an Atheist". there became no longer a single sound argument in the e book. The authors are supposedly knowledgeable, too. One is a Theologian, the different a PhD in philosophy. My in basic terms question once I study it became "the place did those nimrods bypass to college, so i can stay away from human beings 'knowledgeable' at the two place". I counseled "the tip of religion". it style of feels to have sent him right into a tail spin.

You'll have a lot of bullshyt to sift through but would find some gems from both sides I'm sure. Hope you don't get reported!

I don't know how big the 'interest' base would be, but I am intrigued by the idea, if it works it would be a pretty unique way of getting a lot of view points. Good Luck!

Hi. I am a Buddhist, so I neither deny nor believe in the existance of God. If you think my input could be of use for you, shoot those questions. You can contact me through my profile.

If you ask your questions in a respectful manner, I believe you would get beneficial feedback. I am a Christian, and my faith would be backed up with scripture from the Bible.

You will likely get a few sincere people, but i think you would have to sift through so much garbage to get serious answers that it may not be worth your while.
