Yes, it works, even when we don't think that it does. A gentle answer, diffuses the situation, because it is not a natural thing to do, nor does it fuel wrath, but soothes, it. To use anger against anger only strengthens and energizes the anger, but a soft answer, a loving answer, a kind word, or simply a silent one, puts an end to argument. For it takes two to be angry, with one another, if there is only one then anger is just to oneself. And harms self, even when it lashes out, at others or towards others. But love thinks no ill, no wrong, heals comforts, destroys angers ability to continue - for love conquors all things

A great question !

A verse that should be remembered when answering Q&A's.

Proverbs 15
1 A mild answer breaketh wrath: but a harsh word stirreth up fury. 2 The tongue of the wise adorneth knowledge: but the mouth of fools bubbleth out folly. 3 The eyes of the Lord in every place behold the good and the evil. 4 A peaceable tongue is a tree of life: but that which is immoderate, shall crush the spirit

Yes... In fact a gentleman by the name of Dale Carnegie made a fortune writing self help books based on that principle. It is the best way to deal with people who are angry.... although it does work most of the time there are times when diplomacy does not work... but it should always be the preferred initial method.

Yes very often. This is a very true statement. I wish I'd do better at it; which means I'm working to improve that problem, and of course it would be good if others follow this simple rule of nature too. LOL and we have the nerve to ask "what's wrong in the word?"

So, can you explain why Jesus turned over the Tables in the Temple and shouted at the gamblers and money lenders and told them to get out!

That's seems a little harsh.

I let Jesus set my tone!

He is my example.

You gotta problem with Jesus and his attitude!

yes lots of times.. depending on my mood, most of the time i use the gentle answer approach and things stay calm..but on my 'off' days where i've been harsh and angry, things esculate to all out war....I like that proverb, it would do us all good to remember that one!

Yes they work. But alot of times, when I see someone here just saying mean things, just to be mean, I tend to get a little riled, and say things, in defense, for God, and I know he can take care of it himself. Im Human.

Yes and it works! I call it confusing the demon. Because the other party that wants to fight and can't because you have smooth words that they can't argue with. It is the best!

Good words, nice philosophy. But sometimes, no matter how you answer, if somebody wants to pick a fight with you, they will.

Yes. It is better to just turn the other cheek, and be kind toward one another.
