If you have the time and money, then why not. What are friends for? Since it was last minute, and you know that you had plans or your money is looking funny, then girl, tell her the truth. DO NOT PROLONG THIS!!!!!!!!!!! Give her time to find someone else or make other arrangements.

Do you fit in the other girl's dress? If not, I would imagine that it is too late to order one for you. Other than that, I see no barriers except for maybe some hurt feelings that you were asked second. If you do have a twinge of that going on, I would say that brides sometimes pick bridesmaids who are closer to home so dress fittings and so forth are less of a pain. Just do what you want to, assuming that you guys can get a dress and shoes together in time.

If this person is someone you consider to be a friend, do it for her. While you might be feeling a little hurt that you weren't among the first to be picked, remember than just about every bride has a limit to the number of attendants that she can reasonably have and afford. The fact that she asked you, despite the fact that she knows she didn't ask you initially, says to me that she trusts you, and is confident enough of your friendship to know that you will understand, and will help her in a tough situation.

Say no she probably picked you because she didn't have any more desperate friends to be her bridesmaid in such short notice if she didn't ask you when she first started planning then don't do it...

Either accept graciously and feel honored that you are asked to be a special part of her day; or decline graciously possibly due to time/travel constraints or financial burden.

Say no because now you are about to be stressed out about it. Let her know that you're coming, but you can't be a last minute feel in.
