Unemployment in France currently stands at 9.7%.

Further, one must acknowledge, as the French government itself has done, that there is a substantial amount of discrimination against persons of non-Western European origin.

Unemployment amongst individuals of French nationality but North African origin is twice the national average. Among younger people of North African origin, unemployment is almost 40%.

While much of this 40% is due to a low level of education amongst this group, studies by INSEE (Institut National de la Statistique
et des Études Économiques) show that even correcting for educational levels, North Africans are discriminated against. It has been revealed, for example, that job applications with names indicating non-French origins are routinely discarded by potential employers without consideration.

You may want to consider these facts before limiting your options.
