As fun as handcuffs can be, I would personally be intimidated if you whipped them out ont he first date. That is, of course, unless we had had an amazing connection on this date. If things go well enough that the date ends up in the bedroom, maybe it is a good thing to have? Then again, there is always next time.
But if you have a big purse, go ahead and throw 'em in there. It'll be a little fun game for yourself to know that he has no idea what you have for him. And if he turns out to be a tool, only you know what he missed.

lol, you are NOT a police officer so, NO. If you feel that uncomfortable you should NOT be going on this first date with him. You're obviously not relaxed about this. Listen to your instincts about this one. Besides, men are much stronger than women. Even if he appears small he is not in fact weak. Most likely, you will not be able to knock him down to get the cuffs on. Now if he was your b/f and you 2 have been dating for a while then you could bring the handcuffs along with you if you know what I mean *wink, wink* ;) lol.
