The United States have won wars, for instance against the Spanish in Cuba, overwhelmingly in the past. So there is no logical reason why they should not do so in the future.

It is often a difficult question as to which country started a war. For instance, the United Kingdom technically declared war against Germany in 1939, but Germany had flagrantly invaded Poland contrary to treaties with the United Kingdom. Such types of situation aside, it would be nice to think that neither the USA nor any other democracy will win a war that the country concerned has started in future for the reason that no democracy will start a war but only defend itself against attack.

The United States of America along with its ally the United Kingdom, is reluctant to ever go to war. The USA always telegraphs its intentions well in advance of taking any military action. The USA is quite capable of winning a war which it started. It did this in c1776. It won the Revolution, the War of Independence, against a foe, Great Britain, which had no equal.

Obviously you mean in modern times?

They don't always loose, I'd consider the fall of Sadam a victory, even if us Brits played a "minor" role too, but that kind of opened up to another war .....with the Iraqui people and other unethical and anti social middle easterners. Their society is not like ours and some behaviour is deemed as acceptable under certain circumstances which they see fit.

If you're planning to go to war and it involves invading another country then you should be willing to provide as many troops as is neccessary to maintain full control.

Mr. Bush probably thought, "yeah! aint we the mac daddy's!" when Sadam was caught but then started to think "well you know there's other things we could be spending our budget on now that Sadam's been caught" and so the number of troops is reduced, partial reinforcements through the UN, whatever, and the number of Iraquis opposed to the Americans begins to rise in numbers, more inter-cell morale increases and even more Iraquis turn to regain their land (kinda like a war game to them 'cos they're bored and territorial I guess) until they far outnumber the "foreign" troops on their land to the point where they can slowly pick a few off every day or whenever it suits them

...........Just a thought

You're right, we haven't won a war since 1945. That will change when the commander in chief takes on an agenda that requires nothing short of unconditional surrender. That he enters a war with an objective and lets nobody sway him from his appointed goals.

U.S.A government have eyes everywhere and yet they can not see, they have ears everywhere and yet they can not hear. Their doing will be their undoing. Other superpowers are on the rise.....

The poor American citizens have been misrepresented and the damage is done. Others have been brainwashed into supporting nutcases like Pres.Bush and the damage is done.....

Soon........
