You can buy a Havahart trap at any farm supply store. They may also have them at Home Depot.
Set it up with some fresh veggies and you can usually catch the little beast.
Word of caution though, do it when you can be home watching the trap. You are going to want to set the squirrel free somewhere fairly quickly or it will die.
I set a trap for a ground hog and accidentally caught a squirrel while at work and it was dead by the time I got home. Now I only use the trap when I am at home.
We let the ground hogs go out in the woods. The little buggers chewed up the wires under my car. Cost $300 to fix.

I had a golden mantled ground squirrel as a pet and he was not a very good pet. He bit people and escaped his cage, and then ran loose in the house for days. But squirrels are nice to observe and befriend. My parents put out peanuts on their back porch and the squirrels appear as if out of nowhere.
Try putting some peanuts out.

well you can build a cage. if you haven't been in Boy Scouts you probably should join so you can learn how to build a squirrel trap. maybe even the squirrel call. that would be sweet.
