my boyfriend is great, but we've only been dating a couple weeks, my birthday's coming up, and i don't want to tell him, because that feels really self-centered, but i'll be crushed if he doesnt get me something...what should i do? does a 'good' girlfriend let it slide?

Just bring it up in casual conversation. Or, maybe talk about your birthday with a friend in earshot of your boyfriend, so that he hopefully hears and gets you something for your special day. It shouldn't go unnoticed by him. It'll hurt you, and it'll hurt him when he finds out what he's done.

No. I know it means alot to you to have him buy you something but you've only been going out a couple of weeks and I think he will think your being a bit pushy on a gift. But what you could try is maybe one of your friends could just happen to tell him when your not around, that it's your birthday and then if he wants to get you something he will but if he doesn't it's not that big a deal since it's been only a couple of weeks.

Make plans with your girlfriends to go for cake and ice cream on a day b4 your b-day and tell him that you won't be available that day because your friends are taking you out for your b-day. But if you are new at this then he likely is too, so be patient. Happy Birthday!!

it is not self orientated i told my bf right off my b-day and i found out his and i felt funny when he kept asking me what i wanted and i didn't know but he asked my friends and he got it right. and he didn't care he said he loved seeing the giant smile on my face.

Just say something like "I hope my parents get me..... for my b-day". Think how bad he will feel if he finds out after your b-day and he didn't get you anything.
