Christians tend to be very prideful. They don't want to be confronted with anyone who does not believe as they do. They are conceited in their own faith believing themselves special and above all others. They are just like the rest of us, not special and no longer willing to be a human being. They will not listen to you about what the bible says, they know it all.

Christianity will either change a person for good or make a good person proud and arragant. I have seen many become christians and their lives are full of love and peace and good works, and I have seen others become Christian then go around judging everyone else and become real jerks.
The main demonination that can create some real judgemental people are the charismatic Pentecastal churches. The reason is since they speak in exstatic utterances and believe it to be God speaking through them and because of their belief in miracles sometimes to the point of even worshiping the miracles instead of Jesus they get a proud and arragant spirit because after all they were chosen by God and God speaks through them, so they are better than we are. They also witness miracles every sunday so they are better than we are.
I can speak because I have been plagued by Pentecostals all my life. My Grandad told me when I was only six years old that I was going to hell because my dad let me mother take us to a Baptist church.
I lost my mother later to the Pentecostal movement and a once realy loving, caring mother who was kind and gentle and close to me became an intorerant tongue speaking maniac who turned on me and starting hating me simply because I refused to become Pentecostal.
I also spent 3 years in the Pentecostal churches, so i know of what I speak, i am not mean or arragant, just sharing what I have experiences and witnessed.

I am not exactly sure what scripture you may be referencing, but I do know that Jesus said "..blessed is he who is not offended because of Me." Luke 7:23
As to the "proud spirit", there are those who do have problems with self-righteousness. I can say that because I have been guilty of that sin myself, all too often. I think it is the same for almost anyone who learns something new or has a new experience. We tend to fall into the "know-it-all" trap, not realizing that we still have a lot to learn and forgetting that once we didn't know what we now know. That's a bit of a tongue twister, but I hope you know what I mean.
I am sorry that we Christians are so short-sighted and forget that "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God". The only thing I can say is, we are sinners saved by the grace of God and have no grounds on which to boast except in the Cross of Jesus Christ. But, just like an old bumper sticker say: Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven."
Another thing which I have observed is that people, in general, tend to gather with those who think like they do, and Christians are no exception. Of course, we need to change our perspective and do what we have been commanded to do and share the great love which we have found with others. For what it is worth, some of us are really trying to be obedient Christ's command. Please, forgive us when we fail.
Thank you for you question and bless you.

Usually new Christians get a proud spirit because they feel so good. But it's an immature thing. They feel like they joined an exclusive club. That's why Paul said not to make a new believer a Pastor. All this newness will wear off after the devil puts a few tests on him.Sometimes that chases away a new believer, others it hardens like steel and matures.

Maybe not a proud spirit but an overly joyous one. They just feel that everyone else should have the sme spirit, at the same time and the same way. Some have yet to understand that there are many different paths to take.

Excellent question Faith Walker, and an important one at that!
It all boils down to not being mature in Christ. If you look at the different people you know who are saved then you will find that there is a process of maturing that takes place. I'm not sure where it is located, but their is a verse which mentions being a "father in Christ." Now that I think of it there are a lot of verses that speak on the very subject of growing in Christ. It's that simple; it's all about maturity.
Be a good example for them, and help correct them for they need it as any child.

In order for anyone to consider themselves 'good' they must find others who are 'bad'. Most people who get saved do so because they feel guilty or 'bad' because of all the wrong things they have done. Once they become saved they still know they did wrong things so the 'good' they are proud of is that they now know the 'truth' and others don't.

I would say : Nobody's perfect, even newly saved folk! They have to get settled into Christianity....realize that they don't have to be Sue-toe Righteous!!! That will come with time, and with someone checkin there butt! It's not the worst thing in the world, but it is a sin to think your better than, etc! Just give them time, they'll come around.

Some poeple think that they are saved ,so they are better than everybody else ,forgetting not to judge, lest they be judged. They forget to hate the sin but not the sinner. They forget that Jesus said to love both friends and enemies.
