No. Your doing HIM a favor by not bringing him into a situation that he cant win.
You are tired of being hurt, and dont want it to happen again, so you will not fulfill your part if it goes anywhere.
So, do YOU and HIM a favor. Keep your interest on the low. Forbid your friends from blabbing, but allow them to help create encounters that allow for innocent conversation. Hang out, talk, have a good time...if your interest grows, then your fears will begin to whither. When you know, then let your friend play the scapegoat and "innocently leak" the secret out to him.

Have you ever heard the saying "Nothing ventured, nothing gained?" It means that if you aren't willing to take that risk of letting him know than you might be totally missing out on a good thing! He might really like you too but just like you is afraid to make the first move.
You need to learn that you cannot avoid being hurt in life because all that time you are doing your best to avoid being hurt you may be hurting yourself more than you know because you could be letting your true love pass you by!

Sometimes in Love we must take chances or we will never know what could of happened. and of coarse no one likes to get hurt we all want to avoid that. Maybe there's a way to find out if hes interested in you without him finding out how you feel. But go ahead don't be afraid go for it! and if he doesn't like you he's not worth your time anyway. and you will be able to find someone else who will . good luck...

no u r not doing yourself a favor, get to know him if you never let love in when you have a chance then you will regret it when you get older and wish you could go back. chances are love is staring you in the face but it won't work if you keep it hidden. so meet him let him know you exist and flirt a little it won't kill you if he doesn't show he likes you back it will help u move on to find nicer better relationships.

You dont have to tell him. And you dont need to hurt.
Perhaps if you talk with him, you may decide that you dont really like him after all.
