I have a driver's license in my own country and planning to work in the U.S. Does having an international driver's license help make acquiring a U.S. driver's license faster? Or is it that everyone has to start from zero in filing for a U.S license (like I have to take a written test, practical exam, and evrything.) regardless of having or not a having an international driver's license?

Hey I happen to know exactly the answer to this. An international drivers license (basically just a translation from an institute certifying your drivers license in your home country) allows you to drive, rent a car etc in the US for an indefinite length of time. Some states let you just use your license without the international license. If you want to get an actual US license which technically you should do if you are going to be residing here, you will have to start from scratch regardless. Now how much work "from scratch" is depends on the state (http://www.dmv.org/ then pick a state). I've known people who used there foreign license here for decades however, so I wouldn't sweat it too much unless you are going to work in some tiny little town where you are likely to get a lot of hassle. Good luck!
