The meditation is 30 minutes a day, but I don't have much prior experience in meditation, and nor is it really big in my culture (I'm black and from the south), but I really wanna do it, but It's difficult to be consistent. Help!! What has worked for anyone else who has been in my situation? Thanks a Bunch!!

Your problem is the time requirement that you have put upon this activity. Take off the time demand... and do daily meditation for the length that you choose each day. Being black and from the south should not be a problem...the hardest thing is to empty all external distractions to put your mind into an "alpha" state. Start out doing this for a short time... your beginning goal should be to just being able to get into the alpha state... and then after a couple of weeks of this... extend the time, but DO NOT set any time quota... let it take care of itself. Good Luck!

I have the same problem. It helps to have a specific time set aside each day in a place where there are no distractions. Part of meditation is to control your thoughts, so work first on controlling the urge to skip meditation. Make it something you look forward to. Remember how good it makes you feel.

Once you experience firsthand the joy and insights you'll experience through meditation, you'll be looking forward to creating time for it each day. It may require a little self-discipline at first, like everything else in life. We make ourselves go to school, go to work and do the daily grind then find it happens naturally and becomes habit. If given a chance, meditation will most likely become one of the highlights of your day and you'll thank yourself for inviting it into your routine. Best of luck!

Hmm, I'm not sure. Try meditating on committing yourself to it.
