This is a question from eternity to eternity.
If a man had quite a broad and deep learning to sincerely realize that he is completely ignorant, he believed that man is created by the One True God, while man cannot create anything, even a blade of living grass! From that belief, the man humbly keeps on learning to discover other mysteries such as love, freedom, happiness...
If a man just read some books on science or on evolution, especially if he earned some high degrees, he might arrogantly think that he is all knowing and dare conclude that religious people are ignorant, because man created god, or god is dead, or god is not omnipotent, or god is something confusing like his confusing mind.

Man made God as a way of explaining mankind's existence. However, man also made God so that God made man.

Well, God made man but the bible says that man decided to ignore God and make his own "god" (small g). In today's world, instead of idol gods made of wood/stone, etc, man has made himself God.
