Yes, it is. One of my best friends has polycystic ovarian syndrome (aka PCO) and has 3 daughters (all seperate births). The doctor told her that birth control can actually act as a fertility treatment for some women who have this problem, and she was on birth control when she conceived all 3 of her girls.

I would check for information on www.webmd.com

http://www.webmd.com/content/article/4/1680_51208.htm is a particularly good article about fertility treatments with PCO.

And http://www.pcosupport.org is a support group for women with PCO. It has all kinds of useful info!

Yes! I have PCOS which was diagnosed when I had trouble getting pregnant. I was put on 1500 mg of Metformin a day and got pregnant 3-4 months later. We now have two lovely daughters--2 yrs and 9 months--and plan to have more kids. Not only were we able to get pregnant, I feel so much better now that my hormones are in better balance! I requested to stay on Metformin indefinately even though we aren't trying to get pregnant now because I don't have all the symptoms plus I weigh less now than when I got pregnant the first time. Yeah!

you can absolutely get pregnant but it's just a bit harder. there is a brilliant yahoo group that I belong to for PCOS (its Australian based) and you can ask anything you like and it will be answered. Most of the girls there have been through all the same as you and same medication etc. I found it really helpful. Don't give up on the baby making!!!
This is the address if you want to have a look and join.
