Kids get some from Santa and some from us. The ones from Santa are hidden and do not show up under the tree until after the kids go to bed Christmas eve. The presents are wrapped in paper that we don't wrap the rest of the presents in. It is fun paper. And Santa labels are used. Santa also brings the stuff in the stocking.

When I was growing up this was our tradition. My mom put all the wrapped presents under the tree as she got them and wrapped them. So we knew those were from out parents. On Christmas morning when we woke up there would be one big present unwrapped for each of us with our stocking sitting by it. this way we knew that Santa had left the present and filled out stockings. and it gave our parents a little longer to sleep in. cuz we'd get up and play with our unwrapped toy and empty our stockings for a while until they got up. I always loved it and I plan on doing the same thing with my kids. This also makes it so that you can have your kids believe in santa clause without you getting no credit for the things you have gotten them. I know it would hurt my friend's parent's feelings when Santa go all the credit for what they did. and also it doesn't give the kids false hope that santa can bring them anything they want. And you can continue this tradition even after the kids discover that he isn't real.

It depends on the age of the recipient.saying they are from Santa and doing the whole bit with sneaking gifts in while the kids are sleeping on Christmas eve to a family member renting a Santa suit and playing the part to even leaving cookies and milk out for Santa can be used to about age 7-8,after that kids kinda figure it out and there's no need to keep on doing it unless you want to up through any age. I have never heard of it doing any harm.

I dont think that kids really care who the presents are from as long as they get some presents. I usually set out a few presents under the tree. Then we all get to open one present, Which in my family is always christmas Pj's to where to bed that night. Then I put out all the presents the next morning for the magic of santa to happen. It is the impact I think and the charm of santa that is impressive. I usually do half and half.

I don't do Santa, Easter Bunny, etc. because these are things the child looks back on later and says, "Mom & Dad lied to me!" and I don't think this is right. We explain that Santa is a part of Christmas, but we really aren't receiving any gifts from a guy sliding down our chimney or landing 8-9 reindeer on our roof. A polite answer for public for the child or for you is, "We're too old for Santa" or something like that.

2/3 and 1/3 - in favor of Santa. Santa brings him the really 'cool' stuff, but We had to give him a couple of cool things too, can't be totally outdone by the jolly fella. Don't let Christmas stress you out. One thing that I use to do that went over BETTER than the gifts, was- I am right handed, and I would reply to the note, left to Santa on Christmas Eve with the cookies and carrots, written with my left hand. It was never known it was me that wrote it. And they were lit right up Christmas morning when the first thing they did, was to read a hand written letter, left by Santa. Enjoy the season.

We have the very most wanted presents be from Santa- you know, the ones you say are too expensive for you to get everytime they see it in the store. Then they get one or two "big" items from Santa, and the others are split between us or as Mom and Dad presents. Also, their stockings are from Santa. In our house, the kids set out milk and cookies for Santa, and carrots for the reindeer. We also have special Santa sacks (that I purchased last year from Michael's craft store) that Santa's presents come in for all of us.

We always used to give the main presents normally from ourselves, but the extra stuff from Santa. We would wait until our son was asleep and sneak into his room and put the sackful on his bed. Then we would eat the snacks he had left out for Santa. One year he forgot to leave it and 'Santa' left a note: 'David your a bad boy you dint leave me no snax.'
Mind you I do not believe one should ever lie to a child, so the Santa thing was always just a game with us.

The stuff in the stockings is what is from Santa. We buy a bunch of small gifts and put those in the stockings on Christmas Eve.

We kinda do half and half, I make sure the gifts my daughter wants the most come from Santa. My stepson who is seventeen goes along with it as well and so he gets a few from Santa too. My husband writes on the name tags because they dont really recognize his writing and we use special wrapping paper. Hope this helps.
