I've heard that excessive lifting can cause problems with the bones at his age, so consult his physician. In any case, everyone should consult a physician before beginning an exercise regime. Don't take advice on something like this from every Tom, Dick or Harry on the web.

Good Lad. He has a good head on him wanting to get and stay fit for l;ife. the family should encourage him.

As he is and will still be growing for at least another 5/6 years, it is reckomended that he use only his own weight resistence when training, ie no additional weights.

He can do pull ups, press ups, sit ups. etc with no added weight.
just his own body weight. After sixteen depending on puberty etc he can increase weights as he feels fit.

If he is an early developer then he can do more heavy weights at an earlier age. The best indication is his height, unless he wants to strip naked in front of his sister to show you his nads.

If it keeps him off drugs and out of trouble more power to him. 11 is very young to set career choices. By the time he is 13 it's hard to tell what he will want to be.

There are pros and cons to every career choice. Since he is only 11, I would expect him to change his mind a few more times before he gets old enough to really make a decision. I wouldn't worry about it.
