Ice, keep it elevated and try not to use it for 48 hours

Ice is correct--but make sure to take it off every 20 mins or so, or you risk injuring the skin (frostbite!). After the first 24 hrs., alternate ice w/heat. This stimulates blood flow. Always finish up w/ice. Also take some anti-inflammatory, like ibuprofen, if your stomach can stand it.

Remember, ligaments take a long time to heal, due to limited blood flow to them, so, even if you FEEL better, take it easy. 6 mos. is NOT a long time for you to ease back into regular athletic activity!

Nothing. You could use an ice pack for the swelling if you just sprained it. The ice will take the swelling down and it will feel better.........I had a broken finger and they didn't even do anything for that.................

An ice pack and then a split wrapped with tape to keep it imobile for a couple days
