Good question.
In studying many different religions and the history of religion, I have found that this goes back to paleolithic times when people quickly learned that heat was necessary for survival.
In those times, and until very recently, all sources of heat created light. Thus any light was associated with survival. It can be put this way;
Light = Fire = Survival = Life: Thus,
God = Life = Fire = Light.

This is a deep question.
Light can be referring to the creation of the Earth, or as people say "God" Created Earth. You've got to understand that when Matter (the thing that everything on this Earth is made of) and Anti-Matter come together they both disappear in a great light. Some people believe that the Earth was created out of Anti-Matter, which is metaphorically speaking "Nothing". And so there was a Big Bang (Light) that Made the Earth.
And that's just the beginning. Light is all around us, as some belive as is God, it helps us to see, as Does God Lead us out of the darkness.

This both a metaphor and reality. God is the light and Satan hides in darkness. If in 2000 the s*** did hit the fan and there was no power I'm sure there would have been a lot of really bud stuff done by people in the darkness like after cyclone Katrina. God also says "I am", this is a big statement and covers everything including light.

your question refers to all sorts of divinational referances. something our lives have been forged from is light you are that answer man questionable it seems like the rest of us...
theistic referances: see all psalms of the bible, all of the koran and the buddhist doctrines, the writings on the wall and the questions those poor youngfellas have been riddled by all this light given time!
